Finally has the chance to boot Ubuntu Linux for a moment. Yes, just a moment, since I’m not really ready to install it either full install or dualboot. As you might know the PC laptop isn’t mine. Anyway, it’s been a long time running since I last ran Ubuntu previously.
Everything still remind the same, I’m now on Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake. Fun to see the desktop environment by GNOME, but since Apple Mac is base on Darwin (Unix) so I think this Ubuntu works somewhat like Apple Mac though.
With applications built on the top and taskbar (Like Mcrosoft Windows?) at the bottom. The good thing is even it’s a free source, but all the developers do put their heart on it, all the fonts are in smooth type unlike Microsoft Windows where all the fonts are pixelated. A giant that lose a lot on their graphic, hopefully this time the Auero (Or something like that?) works well for it. However, Ubuntu do has some missing part of most people might wanted, the fonts! Those very usual fonts like Arial, Impact, Tahoma, Verdana weren’t included in this CD, but it is posible to install, with well as usual from the Terminal (Command for long time Windows user). The things I hate to do on a Linux desktop are:
1, Install application. Be it built in or whatever
2, 80% are Terminal 20% are Mouse
But I like Ubuntu when it comes to typing words, a little photos touch-up, online. I don’t see any more Ubuntu can do, well, maybe web developing and nothing else. I can’t really take all blame on Ubuntu cause most applications were built for Windows or Mac, non of those big develo
pers wanted to build for Linux though.
P/S: Im on the way installing WinXP Pro SP2 on my Macbook to test the fixed EFI for Boot Camp. Watch out for more update ![]()
