It’s all about business

I just came back from outstation, it’s been a hectic week for me, I took flight, lorry and boat back and forth to a location. All due to a business I’m venturing months ago, and I am quite regret with some of the decisions I’ve made back then.

Don’t be hesitating with money

MoneyWe don’t greed and go into corruption, that’s all. The rest is not greed, but a compulsory action to earn as much money as possible. Due to the respect and hesitating when dealing with money I give a step back and ended up where I am today… Tired!

Don’t get too close with sub-constractor

Sub ContractorIt is business, there won’t and hardly be any relationship happen in between. Due to my human nature, I tend to take everyone nicely and be-friended with. I took the very wrong step by joining him to venture together, making me earning a lot less than I expected.

It is just business

BusinessIn a World of business, they are mean. As mean as a cold blooded crocodile. No one will come forward and send you some money if you don’t push yourself up a bit to get it. Make sure you know where you are and how much you worth, period!

Time for bed, tomorrow another day… But this time, in a field I’m more confident at… Web :)

LEMP?

Recently I caught up with only 5 hours sleep and the rest is just work and more work. Putting my knowledge into another field is too time consuming. Even top rated wrinkle creams couldn’t help me right now.

However, the good this is, I still manage to catch one or two new thing in my main field – Web. Well, not exactly.

So what is this LEMP? Linux, EngineX, Mysql, PHP. Most server are still using LAMP, the Apache instead of EngineX.

NginX

Engine X (a.k.a nginx) is said to be running faster than Apache and can handle bigger queries and databases than Apache and its a light-weight engine.

Anyway, I have trouble looking for an install-able version of LEMP on my localhost :( Anyone has any idea?

Collaboration is the key

While I am a freelancer with my wife, I found that collaboration with someone who you trusted is always the key to be successful in the field. It is however, not easy to find a trustworthy partner too.

People
I myself, has bee naive before. I’ve experiences a few driveway alarm before I get to where I am today. Pure partnership without a goal always resulting a break out.

While I was in college, I tried to work out something for betterment of my future as well as some pocket money with my friend. However, we ended up stopping the project as we did not come to a similar goal. I did it, twice!

However, this time round, the friend who partner with me for the first time, came back to me and asked if I’m interested in another project with him. I rejected without second thought. As I don’t want to waste time on the project that we cannot agree on the goal. We are both not a college student anymore, and have a limited time in making ourselves a living. I would prefer to look for someone who is not so keen on making big buck from one small project.

That remind me of another entry about project-excitement :)

What? Nokia? Symbian? Android?

As you may know, a pregnant mother needs prenatal multivitamins to take care of the baby. It works exact the same in any area of life. One need to take good care of the core, in order to produce a good product.

Nokia Symbian

Nokia was well-known for its Symbian mobile operating system for years. However, if you notice, those Nokia mobile phones on the market are all similar and has the exact same functions across all. Which I am a little bit boring with it. Beside coming out with new design, it is new design again. Though I cannot deny the great thing about the open-source system.

Android

However, we cannot deny that things can get out-dated pretty fast. After the release of Nexus One, Android has become one hot open-source mobile operating system. Even China-made mobile phone are getting in touch with Android to attract more consumers. While Nokia? Symbian, again?

P/S: I wonder when Maemo can become the core for Nokia mobile phone?

Web developer a Linux user

It may sound like closing outdoor cushions when we speak about Linux users – Geek. Majority computer users still thought about Linux as a command-based system, that they may lost in the middle of booting the computer. That’s so wrong and I would like to give some correction on this matter.

Ubuntu

One of my favourite Linux distro is none other than ubuntu. I have been and still encourage those office-use computer to install on it. It’s free, it runs well in some old computer (save money in long-run) and it is stable. As for my profession as a web developer, it helps on my testing too.

Web design ubuntu

I almost can’t believe myself when I first doing a web design for a client back then. I used the pre-installed image manipulation software GIMP to do it. Here are a few things I need to emphasize on…

Stable server

Not only you don’t need to worry about viruses, marewares or even trojan. You don’t have to worry about the localhost too. In Windows or Mac, you may need to install a third party program. While in Linux, it has almost build it on running .php :) Somehow, all my websites and client’s sites are hosted on a Linux machine, that make me easier to test the site locally before launching the sites.

Do more

Ubuntu has most applications installed. A browser, email client, GIMP and text/code editor. It’s all there, without any program to be installed. No worries about viruses, no need of installation again, that definitely save a lot of time and let me work on more important stuff.

However, web design is still my first priority job. Photoshop CS3 has been a good companion compare to GIMP. Ubuntu, see you in my next netbook ;)
