Website and resume

I have always questioning about a blog/website with a resume. Isn’t it better to have some interactive with the interviewer before hand? A blog/website always give people impression and this is the most important thing. A few bloggers and my friends were called for interview because of their blog and the portfolio stored within the blog. People see, people notice, people take action. So if it’s really interesting, it works don’t it?

Resume is just like a website. When you apply a job, you present your resume like marketing yourself. Especially for creative field, if it’s boring, it’s on the trash. If it’s interesting they keep looking and maybe share it. Just like a website/blog, it’s like an online resume with the portfolio or promotional items for company website. And if the visitor sees that they will not benefit to your site, he will give no response; if the site is interesting, they’ll keep coming back.

Macbook DVD-Rom down!

Finally my Macbook need to send to the service center, but I didn’t do it I don’t want to waste any more money on this stupid machine. Well, not really that stupid. I’ve been finding that Macbook (Especially white ones) has a very weak/soft cover, it needed to be taken care REALLY careful. It could break apart anytime if there’s any tough move.

Recently the DVD-Rom has been playing games with me. Sometimes it just don’t read any CD or DVD, sometimes it does. When it does, it has a very annoying and scary sound. Now, it can’t burn and CD-R, error message was just about unable to connect to the DVD-Rom. It can’t boot up with my Mac OSX CD as well, which ended up I can’t repair my volume header

I looked into accessories store for a replacement. It cost more than RM500+, I really can’t afford it anymore. Obviously I needing some acne scars cream very soon! I’ve been spending too much for this stupid white machine!!! Since my parent tells me to give this Macbook to my sister, I’m thinking to get a PC laptop instead Hackintosh always available. Well, I don’t need Hackintosh anymore I guess. I’m in need of Internet Explorer. I’ve been actively developing Wordpress themes this few months, and I can’t check them in Internet Explorer! Mac OSX doesn’t allow IE to install on it now, dammit!

Internet equal to knowledge or entertainment

Believe it or not, it’s been almost a week since I last drop by here for an entry. Recently has been a little lazy due to Olympic games Anyway, this housemate of mine gimme the idea of writing this entry. Computer has been around and will still be around. People thought that computer helps us, but in what way? My point of view is, the real education is on the society, not in a box. Many parents ended up complaining that their child spending too much time on games.

Correct! My housemate who is also a student tell me very clearly that he wanna play games, that’s why he get a laptop. He was true to his word, he has been spending hours and hours on game, let alone the time rushing the last minute graphic work for the next day. I understand that computer bring the convenience and combination of entertainment and education. But it ends up on entertainment more than education.

However, in order to make himself look more smart because of internet, he told me lots of stuff about this and that, but everything that he said, he can’t feel it, he can’t learn from it. In the end of the day, everything that he read from the internet ended up becoming his thought of the day only. What’s the point?

People said the generation born between 90′ - now is the IT generation, who are gonna use computer as their main source of knowledge and entertainment. Let’s rephrase it if possible eh?

Coding a website

As all know that coding a website need to be really strict, doesn’t matter it’s table tag in html or div tag in xhtml. You have to be careful when coding a website. However, recently I find out that many site code the sidebar first before the content. Eventually the content page load slower, and when it is slower it doesn’t help on SEO. Search engine spider run so fast, especially if your host is slower, that would double worst the SEO.

Page load from header to footer, and whenever the code is on top, it load first. So when coding site you should watch out this. Many webmaster love to code everywhere in the HTML resulting the whole HTML a mess like content of a male Zero Halliburton traveling luggage. This would definitely slow down the whole page load, not only the content itself. Some of my friends who code website asked me how, because some of them are creating 3 columns pages. It took me sometime to think about it, but I manage to get the solution though, just look at my blog, it load the content first then sidebar. However, I haven’t figure out how to code 3 columns with content in the middle Anyway, in order to make it load the content first is to write the content div/table tag after header, and use CSS to adjust the floating of the whole block.

Keep Mac OSX on shape

As most of you know, the Mac OS is a UNIX-based operating system. UNIX systems have a way of maintaining themselves through scheduled maintenance routines that clean up a variety of system logs and temporary files. These automated scripts generally run in the wee hours of the morning (somewhere between 3am and 5am). However, if your Mac is turned off or in sleep mode during these hours, these maintenance routines will not run. A healthy Mac is a regularly maintained Mac. So if you don’t leave your Mac on and awake over night, it’s best to run these maintenance routines on a regular basis.

You can do this manually by typing the following into a Terminal session:

sudo periodic daily weekly monthly
