Experiment time!

Get my Marcus lab coats on. Now it is time to do some experiment. Why?

I have a managed VPS there ready for another 3 months, and I have no idea what to do with it, beside... Explore what a VPS can do.

I wasn't a VPS user until 2 years ago. All because I wanted to have the experience with VPS instead. There has been numerous of request about help in dedicated server and VPS, I declined back then, because I have no experience. But now it is different story.

However, in that 2 years, I did not really explore what it can do, because I host all my websites there. Need to be careful with the play :P Well, I changed host (my wife was right, changing host every few years is important.).

With a person who is too righteous.

So far, I am ok with a person who can make a quick decision. Sometimes with asking before making it. I am a-ok with that kind of person. Because it tells me that this guy know what is he/she doing, all he/she need is some confirmation to a technical thing - for web.

But then again, this guy I met is different, a whole lot different.

I keep emphasize that "update me", means bring me in the loop of your decision making, so I know what is going on, especially on the technical part. Well, I'm the one who going to do that, I need to know what they want, and how I can solve it for them. But he didn't. I'm not sure if he though "update me" is a common word, or he thought that I am not into this.

... If I am not into this, I wouldn't be asking. If "update me" is a common word for you, I bet you don't join any other discussion but yours own?

February it is!

As planned, February is going to be our busiest year for this 2 years. Hopefully there won't be much interruption for February. First is to get all the DIY stuff in, from plastic shim stock, some wooden stick, to paint. Then I shall continue with some more stuff.

Blessed by God grace, online business is running smooth last year and this year, we are opening some more door online before heading to offline business. Well, my friend, one focusing business/job is good. But who would put all eggs in one basket anyway. Because eggs, they are fragile.

Packed my luggage and get ready for tomorrow night!!!

Chinese New Year, yeah!

Hate to admit it, but this is the most, boring Chinese New Year I've ever went through. Can't wait to go back home, my home. I'm going straight to hell admitting this. The main point of this Chinese New Year is the reunion, that's about it. Everyone in the family came back home to celebrate this awesome Chinese-only celebration.

So what I did mostly in this 2012 Chinese New Year? Sleep! Yes, you bet, I sleep a lot this year, and I hope it doesn't affect my later days this whole year.

Plan has been good, everything was within my expectation or even exceeded my expectation. God willing, this is going to be an awesome year. My real holiday will end at the end of this month, so there are plenty of time doing some planning and shit to get my shit going for this year :)

SOPA, a bill that everyone is protesting about, even those outside United States. Well, because most website hosted in US, even if a website isn't hosted in US, there are the target for most website too. So it related to EVERYONE, including me.

However, I think the act is over-reacting. Because they wanted to stop piracy, not the whole Internet. I don't know why they want to mess the whole Internet functioning.

Piracy, it is a human act, I believe those who protest against it are those who too download pirated songs, or TV series. Many publisher is bleeding blood seriously, because of the Internet. So keep the piracy act itself nicely and enforce it real-ly. I think that should help already, not using the whole Internet to block the piracy.

Anyway, I think the bill is rejected now. Now I can sleep well at my log bed.

Getting home

It's time to bring out the welcome home personalized banners!!! Time to go home, for the Chinese mostly, next week is the new year for them, and me :) A song for all...

Waking up early in the morning, rush out to the town and settled all the necessary stuff. Nice day, another 2 more days to decorate a bit of house and do some light tasks on hand. I should be ready to go back KL and start working again while waiting the next flight to Indonesia.

Phew, sound like a long schedule ahead....

New blogger is more focus

First, I found a Mac app (Forgot the app's name), but the uniqueness of the app is the focus of writing. Means it is full screen, without much toolbar and all that. So we, the writer can focus on the writing instead of distracted from the other toolbar, icons and etc.

Blogger.com just joined the bandwagon :D I like the overall writing page.

Now, funny thing is, Microsoft thought that giving more icons and more actually helps us focus on... User friendliness... And not writing. Shit you not, go and check the beta screenshot for Microsoft Office. Even for current one, it is really head spinning app. Even WordPad could have done better than the RM500+ Microsoft Office pack.

New Year?

Haven't really take the time to blog yet. I am still on the holiday mood. Well, lucky I still not so comfortable with not working at all. Just when I'm not working, I prefer to browse around than blogging.

Anyway, this new year I hope to get a few resolution, but then, it seems a bit worthless. After all, goal is not always determine by me alone. Especially I'm a married man. So I prefer to just get thing alright. That's all.

I always wonder those who made list of resolution, where most is going back to to-buy list than resolution. Those are just piece of crap. Let's not over do it over the internet. I shall shut up and get my life going with smoother road instead.

Gearing up again

This time, it is a bit of big deal now. At least how I consider it.

The capital is much much bigger than whatever I'd had done before. It comes down to around 1K for the moment, it will pump up again within next few weeks. So it's not a playing thing.

Secondly, the initial task is much more tiring than before. Before all I did was research online, the thing everyone loves to do. But this time, it's more tough and weird, things like pool supplies, hardware supplies and etc is something hard to find the right one.

So all in all, this is going to be tough and the tough will be going.

Doodling

My wife always encourage me to doodle when free. Because I was a KING of drawing back in high school.

Not now, simply because I did not doodling for the past 2 years. I focus more on web design than doodling. And recently I subscribed to a few YouTube channel on caricatus. I like caricatus than doodling.

I am trying to pick up this little skill (or should I say, talent) that I have since young.

Music always a good reminder

That's why I still have some very old songs in my MP3 folder. It is always music that bring one back to the old time and remembering all those stupid thing one has done.

Recently I activated my old phone (not so old), and to my surprise I still have plenty of MP3 in there, so I played it. It were all memory between my wife and I while we were in college. It was a good memory and I have kept that memory for the past 2 days. Hopefully I can extend it a little longer :)

Smoking

I got this idea of quit smoking, again. I need to say, it's been 456754 times I have the idea and just can't act it the next day, I DON'T KNOW why.

I think I've been smoking for 13 years, sound a lot, but I started quit young, which give me 2 thoughts.

1: I've been poisoning my lungs for 13 years and it must be looking so damn ugly and dark now. 2: Smoking while underage means my lungs wasn't fully mature when it hit by poison, a big no-no here.

Since both aren't good thing, why the heck I'm still smoking? Hmmm... Maybe I will log a non-smoking day soon.

Just helping and learning

The good thing about helping a friend is that I get to learn something new on that particular incident, the best thing is, I'm actually working it instead of seeing it or hearing it.

Just helped a friend moved his house, then help painting the house as well as floor painting. Painting is not new to me, as I did it with my current apartment as well. But floor painting is something new to me, and I get to play with it.

With this on-going helping here and there, I'd probably get to do all the stuff with my house one day :)

Practical or article?

That's the question I always come across. I like to work than read, so I tend to choose to go with practical than reading. Although I can't deny that I do read from time to time, but that is a leisure thing for me.

The reason I take this is not because I wanted to let you know I do more than read. It is actually a dilemma for me to choose between them.

If I read a lot, I might missed the opportunity to get my hand dirty and eventually I will forgot whatever I have in my mind to learn something new. However, if I do too much, I would miss a lot more, as you know, some articles are really useful that one better not miss out.

So I need to prepare to use time more wisely in between practical and article. Say... Work with sun, read with moon.

Maintaining

After a deep thought, I think nothing in my life is maintenance-free. My phone, need to pay the bills, my office chair, need a little clean up from time to time, my coffee-mate cream, need to refill. Almost everything!

The one thing I don't like the most is to maintain my car. Although it is easy to find some motorhome repair for some repair job, but it is not easy to maintain a car.

Firstly, my car is white colour. So you know how dirty it gets. Secondly, I seldom drive my car so why do I need to take so much time to something I don't always use, like laptop?

That's why, keeping my life minimalist is a good thing... Less worry less maintenance.

Faith works, but self-consciousness ruin it

As a Christian, I always believe there is someone up there going to help me on all my obstacle, and I still do, always. However, there are times when I have to believe in myself more than handle it to Him you see.

I'm still a human, who in fact, never see Him. I believe in miracle and it has been years that He did these miracle onto me. However, when it comes to finding a property, I still choose to follow my instint and my gut feel. I use the word "choose", because in my mind, I wanted to handle it to Him, so I can follow how He wanted me to do.

Self-consciousness, sometimes the bridge breaker. Maybe I should learn to put more faith than my self-consciousness.

How ironic it is... The weather changed (in some countries), some even get the best weather of the year. Then the holidays is coming very near, oh, trust me, a lot must have taking their leave for the last 5 days. Then tourism must be on their top peak hours. Of course, there are shopping lists to complete too.

Almost all the joyful thing happening within this month to next. Everyone is getting their back pat with gift, with eternity band, with toys and etc.

I too going to have my shopping list complete as well as some vacation :D

Yes, this whole freaking month all my mind is about the vacation we planned months ago. Like last year, spend the new year eve somewhere else, and this time we choose an Island :)

I feel like getting adult diapers at disposablemedicalexpress.com before going. Don't want to spend too much time in the hotel and wanted to walk around the whole island!!!

Anyway, work is slowing down now, which is a good sign. People are all having the holiday mood. Some clients' are already in their vacation period. Well, 2 more weeks and I'll be on my way!!!

Stumble on this video recently. I was browsing the new YouTube layout few days back and this is what I got on my browsing.

A guy (or kid for a boy 15 year old?) had the opportunity to sing with Michael Buble, and from there on, all good things happen. But I am more appreciate his mom though. But that's another thing.

With Michael Buble song genre I was expecting a double bass from Sam, but no, he just use the normal guitar... But anyway, if you were to search Sam Hollyman, you'll find a lot about this boy. From Twitter, it seems like he is producing a CD soon. Talking about luck or talent?

The oldie but a goodie

I always said I don't play game, actually I need to clarify a little bit here. I play game, light game. I don't play heavy game. To better define light game, I play free online Flash games, Tetris, Diamond dash and etc. Thos game that is easy to play to kill some times off. Heavy games are like Skyrim, WOW, Call of Duty and etc.

Even though I don't need PS3 HDMI cables for my little game leisure time, but I still sit in front my computer. That's the only problem and I'm getting rid of that later tonight - Hopefully.

My friend just agreed to give me his old small 21" TV, tonight there is a small night market nearby which sell Micro Genius (Yes, cloned and made in China type) :)

e-Commerce coming again

There we go again, another e-commerce coming into play. Oh... I mean the system that let you create e-commerce using their platform. This generation retail system are changing now.

e-Commerce is something booming here recently. I find that many business are joining into this field even if they already has a physical shop ready. But for the youngster, they prefer to use Facebook as their platform. At least you can be sure how many people are seeing your new product. But seriously, stop the photo tagging.

I too wanted to start an e-commerce, but I have yet to find any vendors that can supply the goods. But anyway, I will start it one-day, just not this near future.

Simplicity

It has only 6 tabs of settings. In WordPress, too much tabs which I seldom click it. A waste of space, an irritation on my eyes.

For blog

Yes, WordPress WAS a blogging platform, but it has now become very CMS-like. Where you'll have more than you need for a blog.

Hard to hard

I don't understand myself sometimes, I just don't like to refuse some stuff, I take most thing as my responsible. When I work, I will responsible from hosting, domain to the site installation and uptime (who the fuck can maintain an uptime anyway?).

But this incident IS the lesson for me now.

There was a little problem, actually not a biggie, but just some dumb bitch tried to make it a trouble (read: not problem a trouble). I actually can stays away, but like I mentioned, I take it as my responsibilities - Such an idiot.

But I threw things back to them now. I don't want to care too much, since I get the pay check and this project is finally come to closing :)

Traffic is a traffic

SEO is not merely about traffic, if you claim to be working on SEO, make sure you are working on SEO, getting pages into search engine and easier for search engine to update your content.

Getting traffic from search engine and SEO is 2 different thing. Traffic is just merely traffic if it doesn't make you a sale. Everyone and anyone can easily buy lots of traffic with a fee, but spending times just to build traffic through SEO is wasting time.

Aside from that, SEO too checking your inbound links, if there isn't any, it means your site is not important for most people, because people doesn't talk about it or link it. Take it like "Like" in Facebook, the more link it goes to hot page.

So make sure you understand that, at the very end of the day, how your visitor see you and how they like you are still the final decision on your search result. Over placing your keywords just not working anymore. It was 90's trick.
