It is a tablet
It runs Windows 7
It is a touch screen

A compete to Apple iPad?

Not exactly. We are now heading to “mobile” century. Most fashionable if not geek person likes to have one or two gadget that is mobile. Mobile phone has been widely used even a small children. Then we have mobile game console (Portable, a term we almost forgotten), then we have mobile computer (laptop), mobile hard drive and so on.

Like usual, the audience is different. Asus EEE Tablet seems like more business oriental while iPad, fashionable gadget.

This week, the great Hinkley lighting is pointing at another China made iPad alike device called, iPed.

I am not sure about how real the information yet. However, it was rumor that is runs android as the system and has almost the same function as Apple iPad has to offer. Running on a lower and slower 600-MHz chip has a smaller 7-inch screen, and only support up to 16 GB of storage. Price are quote on only $150, which is, I would say, quite high end for a made in China clone Speaking from experience of buying China clone too much.

Interesting… China, you’re the man

There is all the heat about Apple iPad. After seeing all the iPad printed boxes and on a second thought, I think my entries about Apple iPad need to refine a bit.

Let’s make it bold and brutally honest about Apple iPad. First off, it is just a machine to compete or should I say, join the bandwagon of tablet.

Apple has enough mobile product, the MacBook Air is enough for it mobility like Apple iPad, if smaller, there is iPod Touch. Why is there another product that similar to the existing product? Compete with what other has in store.

Apple iPad don’t do any other thing beside, reading ebook. Why would one spend so much just to read ebook? It’s like giving up the whole forest for a matches on hand. Amazon Kindle, however, make it debut earlier and already start porting into applications on BlackBerry and Nokia, so reading ebook require as small as a Nokia, not even iPhone (Well, it is in iPhone now, though).

I started to feels like Apple like to test their royalty on their own community… Not a good marketing thing…

Well, the anger burst and HTC getting the lawsuit… Of course, Google is backing up HTC for they are Android biggest manufacture as well as helping them developing Android.

I am not condemning Apple product right now, but the way Apple running their business and marketing has making me a little bit uncomfortable. I still love their design though, can’t deny Apple has been a design trend creator and a lot others are just follower

Apple hardware and Apple software

Apple product come with such a premium price for a reason. They owe everything including you as well. As long as you buy something from Apple, you will going to get the rest of the product from them, beside of course, the accessories.

One place to get replace

Only authorized Apple reseller has the right and legal document to replace your faulty machine, or just a simple warranty from Apple care. Obviously this limited to big city around the World and not small town in a country. Isn’t it exclusive and expensive? Unlike changing projector headlights where you can get it on most store in town.

You are their asset

As soon as you jumped into Apple product, you are their asset. Because you have only one way to go, what do you think they are you to “switch” instead of “getting used”? By taking it one way only, you will become their royalty customer.

Now if you asking me will Linux works this way? I would probably say yes. For me, basically Linux and Apple are both very alike, the only thing lack in Linux was the publicity, which Ubuntu has been working very hard on I believe. That will be another story

This entry might bored you out. You might get angry, and you might feel funny, whatever it may be, I just feels that this should be one interesting thing to know. Been using all three operating system, hearing all sort of argument and agreement. Here are what I find out.

Mac is safe from viruses

Well, it depend how you use the computer. Many of my friends does not have an anti virus program and still happily deleting virus themselves, my brother is one of them. Attacking Windows does not mean Windows is bad, if Microsoft support does not solve this problem, then, it is bad, but they do solve the viruses problem don’t they? Mac is save because the system is different.

Windows can play lots of game

Does those Windows users know that there was this game link on Apple website? Diablo, Age of Empire, SimCity, you name it. Sure not so much game, but still, Mac can play games. The reason behind those game maker to make lots of Windows games because the market they have, not because they don’t like Apple computer.

Mac is all about plug and play

Look into the library, you’ll see a whole list of drivers that you didn’t even know. Mac pre-installed all printers and camera drivers so you don’t need to install. But this, take lots of space away from your hard disk. Windows tried to give you more space instead of wasting those in drivers alone.

Windows is more customisable

Really? How long you with the desktop? If you’re a gamer, I bet you’re playing full screen, no? If you’re Internet geek, I bet the browser is maximized mode, no?

I can list a lot more, but I think I’ll pass. Anyhow, there should be a clear understanding of the marketing of each of them. Mac are more into premium machine, PC is everywhere built-in with Windows.

Mac made the hardware and software themselves, they keep the market forever – Royalty. Every product of Apple is interlinked, so you have an iPod, you’ll need an iTunes, to run iTunes on the best mode get a Mac. To get support from Apple, you’ll have to get to Apple store. Clear enough? Apple building royalty slowly every single day.

Unlike Apple, Microsoft mass market their operating system. They linked themselves with the government (smart move). If your Windows crash, there are thousand of stores outside can assist you. Microsoft doesn’t care that, all they know is to market the product out to the mass, heavy advertisement and etc.

In the end of the day, both are actually running almost the same. The price is the only differences. If price is not your concern, you will definitely get a Mac (that’s why we said Mac fanboy are rich). If you have a budget, go for PC, nothing wrong with both of them anyway.

Just give me a nice box cutter, I am going for PC next Budgeting my money these few months. I am going with Ubuntu Linux recently and the upcoming PC will be a Linux machine too!

I was about to get back home after the whole day tiring office work. The colleagues came and said something (Work related) and told me that Safari has a new version that just came out last night, in the midnight I bet he was waiting there as well, but whatever it is, I’m checking it out once I got home

Very simple, as simple as Google Chrome and honestly, this copy has been too significant And why they didn’t talk to themselves about copying? Instead, they keep on blaming Microsoft Windows are copying them? Guess the person who being copy is louder than the person who copying Anyway, speaking of Safari 4, the user interface has been upgraded, a lot!

How I love the way they display the most viewed site comparing with Google Chrome. Well, as usual that’s the Apple style, simple yet elegant

However, I have one problem though, this viewing is good, but the function wasn’t there yet. I am still looking for ways to import my bookmark into Safari 4. I’m currently using IE6, IE7, Mozilla FireFox, Google Chrome and now Safari 4 beta! Guess this beta version doesn’t support it yet, until the next release(?)

I’m having this problem as well. I wonder if Safari developing team notice this or not. I was forced to change the classic theme into XP theme mainly because of the tiny tabs it has on the classic theme. Hmm… This is just like a good Google Chrome. Well, it’s good that Apple has come out this idea to solve their Safari usage.

Google Chrome came out just a while but has taken a lot of market share, growing faster than Safari 3 I just hope IE die away as soon as possible Working as a home business especially in Internet related work, coding for IE6 is really a headache. Hopefully Safari don’t play games with me anymore.

Due to my faulty DVD-Rom, I can’t repair my volume header, that scared me for a while. I took my time to look into the internet for the best volume repair software. I get cocktail and some other that are shareware

And finally I come across this best maintenance software called – Applejack. It allow Single User Mode to maintain and repair the header! It also helps if the laptop can’t boot up. Best of all, it’s freeware! Not even a shareware can compete with this. I got my volume header repaired and now running smooth Imagine sitting here all day long just to find out how to repair my volume header, damn! I should have know this software earlier. Next entry must be a weight loss pill reviews due to the long hour of sitting without exercise this few days.

All you need to do is press “Command + S” when startup and the sound “Pong!”. It can’t work when it is on the user mode though. My idea is to just use the command key “applejack auto”, it will do 3 things.

1, Repair header
2, Repair permission
3, Clean up cache

Which is way better to remember all others code It is only 331KB file by the way.

Apple has started seeding developers with an early version of Safari 4 (5526.11.2). The release comes amidst news of Apple’s plans for Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) which will focus on performance and quality.

In their press release for Snow Leopard, Apple revealed that Snow Leopard includes Safari “with the fastest implementation of JavaScript ever, increasing performance by 53 percent, making Web 2.0 applications feel more responsive.” Apple will reportedly accomplish this dramatic speedup with SquirrelFish technology which is currently under development for Webkit. Snow Leopard is due for release in “about a year”, though Safari 4 release could come much sooner and for existing operating systems. In fact, they are seeding versions specifically for Windows, Tiger and Leopard.

Apple’s focus on high performance JavaScript becomes obvious now that they have demoed the new web applications that come with MobileMe (Guided Tour). MobileMe provides web-applications for email, calendar and address book which were described as being as responsive as desktop-based applications.

One new feature found in Safari 4 is the ability to save webpages as stand alone “web applications” which launch much like regular applications. This replicates functionality found in Fluid, a Mac OS X Leopard application which creates these Site Specific Browsers.

Tiger only: http://rapidshare.com/files/135822721/safari4devprevtiger.dmg.zip

P/S: Currently I don’t see any differences though Maybe sooner…

First of all, I would like to say sorry, this blog was suppose to be an operating systems related blog, but it ends up to be some kind of internet related blog. Some of my friends asked me why I don’t post any tips and tricks and etc about operating systems. Well my friends, tips and tricks of ANY operating systems are now fully packed available around the internet, just Google, Yahoo!, Ask, MSN it and you’ll get tons that you couldn’t finish. To be frank, due to the paid post I’ve been writing and the keywords were all around the life, insurance, credit card and etc has gotten me here today. Let’s put it this way now, this is a blog ON operating systems, there you go, sound much more to do than sticking with operating systems only This blog is one of my best acne treatment, although there was some lack of update recently, but don’t worry, once I have my stuff off update will be frequent.

Done my apology and my explanation, allow me to continue the main topic Very quick, personal branding. I’ve been following with Fakesteve blog and Chedet (Former Malaysia Prime Minister blog) for sometimes, and they have a good branding of themselves. But I would say Fakesteve would champion all the way on personal branding. As most people know that Fakesteve isn’t the real Steve Jobs, but I don’t want to care first, doesn’t matter he is or he isn’t, the branding and getting the most out from the blog is very successful.

This guy (Let’s say it’s someone else) has a very clear mind and understanding of Steve Jobs. Along the way, all the entries made were consistent, the pride and the arrogance are all over the blog. From the first day I clicked into this blog, it already has Google Adsense there, after a period, Amazon was in then blah blah blah, all in. And I predicted that this guy behind the blog must have something wanted to do with this blog. Look into the most recent entry, he is writing a book now, costing? Heh, don’t mention.

Now you think the book is can’t sell? First, Steve Jobs has been storming the computer industry since 2002 (As I know, correct me if I’m wrong) after the come back on 1997. “Apple Mac” became something that is so familiar few years back, then came iPhone that storming the whole mobile phone industry. If you’re still wondering what could you do to make some traffic (Read: TRAFFIC ok?) from your blog, “Steve Jobs” could be a keyword you can choose

I keep checking the software update from time to time hoping…

1, An update that fix the screen flickering problem.
Recently it keep happening back on my Macbook again, although it has been sometimes that it doesn’t happen B ut it’s annoying you know?
2, USB ports giving me a headache.
My mouse doesn’t seems to work so perfect nowadays too. After wake up my Macbook from sleep mode, the mouse red LED light underneath it gone! I have to re-plugin my mouse again.
3, Airport doesn’t work like charm anymore.
To tell you the truth, it’s been quite a while my Airport doesn’t work well, especially when we just changed a new wireless modem. I like to use wireless compare to ethernet which messing up with the Macbook left sidebar Well, I used only the adapter, the mouse and a speaker, any edition to the sidebar cause a mess! It doesn’t matter how much engraved plaques trophies has Apple win now, it’s about the software quality!

So… Where is Apple update coming? Anyway, it’s might be that the launching of Leopard is the death of Tiger

With the new update of Safari 3.1, now they work somehow like Mozilla FireFox, they can force open in tab, with some tricks though…

defaults write com.apple.Safari TargetedClicksCreateTabs -bool yes

Write/Paste this on Terminal when Safari isn’t open. To enable Safari to open a new windows just change the “yes” to “no”.

Sometimes it’s strange that why Safari don’t look into Mozilla FireFox and learn from them? They have to know that FireFox is well-known Worldwide compare to Safari at the moment, they (Apple) should at least take a survey into them to know why people likes to use FireFox, what function does FireFox has that Safari don’t have? Are they scare that people will says that they copy from Mozilla like how they said Vista copy from them? Come on, this is the “need” of consumers, it would be “copy” but it will be a feature only, even bathroom faucets are widely copied by Chinamen.

The new features of Safari that enable us to re-arrange tabs is also one of the thing I use FireFox. Now that I know Safari can force open tabs, I think it’s fine foe me to use Safari!
