This is the most awesomeness 3D desktop I’ve ever seen. Well, actually I saw it back few years, but did not bother about it and ended up forgot about it, until recently…
Google bought it over!
Yes, Google is interested on the technology and I am seeing something new feature in Google Chrome OS?
Quote from their site:
For the next week, we’re keeping BumpTop Free available for download at bumptop.com/download to give BumpTop fans one last chance to grab a copy.
Existing BumpTop Pro users should visit bumptop.com/pro for more information.
I’m not sure from when to when the one week is. But I got it downloaded
One more thing I would like to emphasize. The desktop between Mac and PC users. Recently my friend told me that the debate will never finish, so I hook up and research for some desktop/workstation between the 2 users.
Mac User Desktop
What can I say? Mac user know how to enjoy their workstation, the design and nicely placement of everything is the thing for them, in short, beautiful. They’re looking for a comfortable and beautiful workstation.
PC User Desktop
Well, not as much as Mac user do. All they need is just the basic one.
A simple ceiling Minka Aire fans could do well for PC users but not Mac users. The question is this, functionality or beauty?
In a computer, I want functionality or features, not a beautiful machine that doesn’t work what I tell, or has a few problem here and there. MacBook has profoundly disappointed me with their heating problem – A mistake PC manufacturer don’t dare to make at all. As for PC, beside Windows 98 and Windows ME, I think I am more than satisfy with them. Hey, I’m a 2 years Mac user and get frustrated with the problem it has with me, I rather give up than spending more money fixing it
After all the heat about netbook, I was thinking about the mini tower desktop
Currently this is how my workstation looks like.
Since normally I don’t bring my laptop outside my house, I am taking it as a small tower, which in fact, not so small. I found out Acer has the one I’m looking for:
The AspireRevo R3610 is a revolution in computer size, shape, design and affordability. This piano black nettop sports a small casing that can either stand alone or snap to your monitor, streamlining your personal space while giving you the home infotainment center you always wanted. Whether tucked away in a corner of your desk or nicely concealed on the back of your monitor, the AspireRevo makes the perfect everyday PC for cruising the Internet, doing your daily work, staying connected via instant messaging, and enjoying photos, music, videos and more.
I love how simple and clean overall design of the mini tower, not to mention the wireless keyboard and mouse that comes with it. It’s like slimming body wraps around a big tower
Although some tells me that laptop will work better in case any emergency, but I think secondary or supplementary computer are common nowadays. I started off computing since Intel introduced their Intel Pentium 1, costing a whopping RM5K a computer to now RM2K less a computer. Heh, talk about technology improvement.
With all the technology and mobility devices nowadays, it is quite a hard decision to made when it comes to getting the next computer. I personally owned 2 laptops, and they are both sweet One is a Mac, one is a PC. However, the time of choosing another new computer has come. It’s for my partner, colleague, wife
Starting December, we will start off our business. However, we are both dilemma in choosing the next computer. We made some list of pros and cons for S.O.H.O to have a desktop and laptop.
Desktop
Good – Power wise
Good – Long terms upgrade
Good – Low maintain
Bad – Size and weight
Bad – High power consumption
Laptop
Good – Portability
Good – Asset renewal after 2/3 years
Bad – Small and heat
Bad – Easy to be stolen
Bad – One broker means the whole laptop into repair shop
We ended up coming back to square one But whatever it is, we are still on our first step now. Looking forward to see more new models coming out
I am in the middle of struggling of desktop and laptop. Recently I felt like I’m lack of computer to use, I mean a useful one Anyway, laptop or desktop that’s my concern. Since I move around quite a lot (As in moving my room/place etc, not walking to another place). The thing is, I’m so used to have a small screen First year in college I was using my sister’s desktop running at Pentium 3, 1GHz, 512MB RAM, coming with a 14″ CRT monitor. Then I moved along with my Macbook with 13.3″ LCD screen and now back to PC laptop that has about 14.1″ LCD screen, all of those taking me a great 5 years and still with less than 17″ screen. My eyes…
Here are my concern: Desktop
Cost about the same, but with bigger screen
Not convenient for me to move around
I can play with hardware instead of software
Consume more electricity than laptop that run with 6 cell battery
Upgradable, which mean it has a longer lifespan
Expandable, can add more hardware/storage and etc
Require some space on my table or my room
Laptop
Cost the same as dekstop, but smaller screen
Can move when and where I want anytime
Software again, but Ubuntu can be main used then
Consume less electric but the UV from screen is strong
Cannot upgrade, life-span about 4 years or maybe 5
Feeling stupid to do such a comparison. But anyway, I’ve checked into the market price listing. I can easily get a good spec (Almos the same spec with my current laptop) for about RM1800 and for desktop, I could get a good and big LCD screen to help my eyes. Using a laptop is just like a desktop having a diet pill, shrink down a little bit. The cost is almost the same after all. But whatever I’ll be choosing, the front part is still $$…
