Like Windows Vista, Microsoft don’t have time to delay anymore. Windows XP has been on the market for the past 7 years and counting. Apple computer has been aggressively update their product line and do a very heavy marketing for their products. Ever since Microsoft released Windows XP, the most successful operating system ever, they calm down and focus on other software development like Windows Mobile and Microsoft Office. While Apple heavily worked on their little product called iPod.
GetAMac campaign by Apple has got to be one of the century advertisement campaign. That is why Microsoft cannot delay anymore to release their Windows Vista, which for most people, is not user friendly enough, not to mention the word “bugging”. While Apple still working on their GetAMac campaign and dramatically upgraded all their product line, Microsoft on the other hand is leave behind. That, is when Windows 7 kicked in to make another turnaround move for Microsoft.

I personally think Windows 7 might failed, simply because:
- Rushing for an upgrade, even consumers has yet to use to Windows Vista
- Dramatic change of features will piss the consumers instead
- There will be a lot softwares not compatible with the system
Personally, I’ll be with Windows XP for the moment. I was once a Windows Vista user, however, there are little time that Windows Vista pissed me off. So far, Windows XP is the only Microsoft system that don’t crash on me, saved my anti-wrinkle cream a lot compare to Vista.
It’s been a month I did not look into Windows, until I went to Indonesia. There I have to work with Windows XP again. Which is good, then only I can compare more on both system. Anyway, I think I observed a few things in Ubuntu that Windows should also take the lead now…
Softwares installation
Ubuntu has this nice application installation that automatic download and install with only a click. That is why I can get to test a lot of softwares and uninstall in another click again. Due to the wide range of softwares there are, Windows cannot simply promise this easy installation. But listing the most popular shouldn’t be a problem. Softwares like Anti-virus, image editor/resize, computer tweak and etc should be ready with a click, since those are mostly used by Windows users.
Features, it’s either more or less
Ubuntu installed a very basic computer system, which is why it can be used by computer newbie. Windows on the other hand, install bunch of useless softwares in the system. Previously when I use Vista, I saw “Tablet” function was enabled, whereas I am using Acer Aspire which no tablet function at all. It is just wasting the resources. Even though Windows has so many packages, I don’t know why Microsoft don’t want to go focus a little bit on their products.
Well, have to take a walk here now
Been on trip for a month now, still feel like to be outside, well, should also get some diet supplements since I just gain another 4kg since the month in Indonesia. Dammit!
A lot of myself tells me that they have already removed the software using Add/Remove Program in control panel or Programs or Features in Vista. Well, as a consumer, we all don’t wanna buy the license for hundred of dollar for a few time use, so some might use trial version and keep using it, but only to find out they cannot re-install the trial version, because it already expire – That my friend, is because your Windows is not clean.

Windows uninstaller I called it. Everything you install in your computer will be featured here and uninstall from here is (Suppose to be) the cleanest way. Although the easiest way to uninstall is to just delete the folder like Macintosh do, but they have something in common though. Both OS left some bread crumb on your system to track them back the next time you install the same program. To completely clean up your system from your previous software bread crumb, the only way to do is to format your system or go into Registry!

Been learning some tricks and tips on Registry even since I switched back to use Windows few months back. Always look into 2 folders – 1, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE and 2, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software. These 2 folders will left a lot of folder on your previous installed software. You can directly delete the folder name. Try not to touch any other, because those are very case sensitive stuff. Play on your own risk alright?!
This entry may sound like a sponsor post, but it isn’t ok? They’re not paying an amature blogger like me to write some shit for them, so keep reading

1, It works like it should. Speed up my system from day one. It was recommended by my girl friend at first with the best disk defragmentation software. I keep looking into it and found the BoostSpeed which eventually become one button that I click almost every day I use computer. It is fast, and it is so easy that even a nerd knows how to operate it.

2, Registry defragmentation. One of it kind, I never thought registry should and can be defragmented as well. Though it can’t delete the useless registry entries, but it works for adjusting the entries to make sure it run smooth and fast. Just a small note, everytime you install a softwares, mostly there will be a registry entries built inside registry. However, when you uninstalled the software, it doesn’t mean the registry will be disappear by its own. No softwares I found can do this at the moment, if you find it, tell me please
The best part, even when I was degramenting my drive C, the whole system still stable and I am still able to go online and reserve some seat at Westgate without a problem.

3, This is really fast! By using the one button, it only require more or less 5 minutes to finish. That says, it check all your system and see which needed to be maintain. Clean up your disk space for a bigger space usage, then it defragmented your disk. All in just less than 5 minutes on my system. Subject to the disk usage as well.
This has become one of the software I am so needed all day long. A few of my friends has it installed after my first demo for them and all getting a good regconition
Why waste time keep formatting and blaming Microsoft for their product when you, yourself don’t know such product exist?
Obviously you can also notice that there are way too many information and hack about speed up Windows XP, tweaking Windows XP and so on, but does them really do good? Though Microsoft sometimes encourage/show their users how to do all those tweak and hack.
I for one, is the one who do all those tweak that is SAFE. Well, obviously nobody knows it’s safe or not, unless it’s from Microsoft himself. Anyway, I was just wondering, IF so much hack that needed to tweak in order to speed up Windows, why would Microsoft applied all those on their operating systems and after that, give information on how to tweak it? Isn’t it much much better to tweak it before hand?
After tweaking and all those, I did notice the speed up, but I still believe that the machine specification that helps achieving this speed and operating. Very quick, like a door hardware, especially the lock, once you give some lubricate there, it will be fantastic. This doesn’t sound like Windows XP run well comparing with Mac or Linux. Though I have the wrong mind to convert a little back to Linux, thing was that Linux was lagging on my old machine, so I doubt the speed that would satisfy me. Anyway, these are things that I tweak on XP beside those I mentioned prebiously…
1, Disabled theme
2, Disabled paging service
3, Speed up start menu
4, Adjusted start up items
Well, most are edit in REGISTRY which I was scared about it last time, but now, heh
It will somehow, recreate themselves so nothing biggie there unless the core. I was thinking, if only Windows XP ship with all this applied, how “Just work” it will be for me
Eye candy is just a waste of time for me, when you surf, everything you’ll see is the browser/site content, when you play games, it’s full screen (If not maximized windows), when you’re doing office work, it’s maximized windows, so what is eye candy for in a computer anyway?
